about

I wrote this song after I walked into "Layla's Honky Tonk" in Nashvilles Music Row. At the time I was too young to stay in the bars at night and I went back to my hotel room and looked through the pictures from the day! I stopped when I saw the picture of all the license plates up in the rafters in this bar and became inspired. I used the images in the picture to write the lyrics! Now, two years later that story has been brought to life. I hope you enjoy the sounds of Nashville from wherever you are!

lyrics

There’s signs all around
Tip cup glows in the neon light
People come and they go
Through that ever-open door

Chorus
Red and black metal faded white, Hangs from the sky
From A to Z numbers 1-2-3, June 95
Tennessee is typed in green, One reads Layla 14
Ones from a place I’ve never seen

Old man buys another beer
PBR is $2.50 here
Seven-piece band on a tiny stage
They’ll play whatever you say

Chorus
Red and black metal faded white, Hangs from the sky
From A to Z numbers 1-2-3, June 95
Tennessee is typed in green, One reads Layla 14
Ones from a place I’ve never seen

Bridge
From near to far
From there to here
There’s a piece of your home you’ll find near (in that)

Chorus
Red and black metal faded white, Hangs from the sky
From A to Z numbers 1-2-3, June 95
Red and black metal faded white, Hangs from the sky
From A to Z numbers 1-2-3, June 95
Tennessee is typed in green, One reads Layla 14
Ones from a place I’ve never seen
